In today's mail I received a fiction catalog from Christian Book Distributors. On page 3 of this catalog is featured Karen's new book Coming Home. It gives some details about what happens in the novel. I thought I would post it here. I thought you all would enjoy a glimpse of what the book is about and to speculate on what happens.

The family has been through so much, but now it's time to celebrate! Their dad John is turning 70, and Ashley and her siblings want to honor him as only the Baxters can-by being all together. That's why everybody is Coming Home! Dayne, Katy, and their kids are flying in from L.A., and Erin, Sam, and the girls are driving a thousand miles from Austin to Bloomington. Every thing is falling into place perfectly. . . and then tragedy strikes Erin, Sam, and their children. The family still gathers at the lake. But instead of celebrating, they cry, pray, and give the situation to God. Can they trust him-no matter what happens?

LOVING*SPOILERS!!*

The reason I was excited to read the Bailey Flannigan series was because I expected it to be about her and Cody's relationship and future together. I wanted a series about Bailey and Cody not Brandon and Bailey, AKA Dayne and Katy II AKA Kelsey and Kyle (Karen's daughter and her fiance) First of all it is obvious that Karen changed her mind halfway through the series. The original cover definitely had Cody as the man Bailey was going to marry. Also, what was the point of Betty telling Bailey that she looked so in love in the picture of her and Cody together and she didn't look at Brandon that way? I thought for sure that was a hint that Bailey and Cody would have ended up together. Also, about Chey telling Cody that because he kept running away that Bailey wasn't the right girl for him? With that logic then Ashley and Landon shouldn't be together because she kept running away from him. I always thought that Cody needed to find himself and work out issues before he was ready to have a relationship with Bailey. I feel like a reviewer stated on amazon: that I have been tricked this entire time waiting for Cody and Bailey to get together.

The Bailey Flannigan series has been a disappointment, I thought it was dragging out for so long because of the fact that Cody and Bailey would finally be together. But now Im more Team Cody than ever and now I'm even Team Andi. I feel like they are the people to look up to. Their lives seem more real than Brandon's and Bailey's. They went through so many tragic situations and they found their way back to God and they are still faithful to God and I think that a lot of people can relate to that. Also, why I enjoy reading the Baxter family because each of them faced real-life issues (losing a loved one to breast cancer, having sex before marriage and a pregnancy, a cheating spouse, and running away to another country and coming home pregnant) I don't think Bailey had any struggles at all apart from not praying for Chrissy before she died. The only struggles she faced was deciding to stay in Broadway or go to Hollywood, or praying more. I feel like her and Brandon's story was really fake and unreal, too perfect.

Praying for your future husband (stories?)

This is for all the girls (and women) out there who are diligently waiting for the person that God has created for them but has not found them yet. Actually, lets be honest, the waiting game is not something that is often done "diligently" or "patiently". I am 20 years old and have never been kissed, never had, a date, never had a boyfriend. Sometimes I am very proud of this fact (more like thankful God has protected me), but other times when i'm surrounded by friends who are getting engaged, or have boyfriends, that I just want God to hurry up and bring him to me! I feel like being single in today's world is so hard because everything in society seems to point toward couples. This is fine and wonderful if you have someone, but can be dreadful if you don't. I feels like everywhere you turn, you are reminded that you do not have that special someone in your life (valentines day, eating out, movies, ect) I used to pray for my future husband constantly when I was younger, but as the years went and I did not find him, those prayers somehow began to get fewer and fewer. However, I recently discovered a book by Robin Jones Gunn called Praying For you Future Husband (haven't finished it... but if any of you are feeling the way I feel, I highly recommend reading it), and reminded me why I started praying for my husband in the first place. But even more, it is about preparing YOUR heart for him also. I guess I am wondering how many girls are in the same boat I am in, and also those who have stories about how God answered their prayers? (lets see how many stories we can get here?!! and, the more unbelievable or funny (because we all know God has a definite sense of humor) the better!

It doesn't have to be just reading - it could be writing, or listening to a story, or feeling a book in your hands. How did your love for reading books (or newspapers or magazines or...anything!) begin?

For me, it was when I was very small. My parents told me that when I was just a year or so old, I would spend a long time looking at each and every picture on those board books that we had. I still like to study drawings to this day . I've been in love with reading ever since I could first read, really. I loved escaping reality and being able to dive into a world that was as real to me as water and earth. And it seems that as I grow older (and have begun to write) I enjoy escaping reality even more. I don't see how anyone can dislike reading - it's great!

So what about you?
