I just finished reading Shades of Blue....It was a different kind of reading than I am used to but the story pulled me in so many ways....Im glad it had a happy ending for everyone. And I agree with another reader...If these people were real, I would love to meet them! I'm not a religous person but this book opened my eyes to a lot of different things. I am and always will be, against abortion. Thank you for writing this book. I hope it opens other peoples eyes about love and regret, and teenage love and mistakes.

Also, I wanted to thank Karen for the www.mywedding.com. I didn't realize until after I read this book that Karen is the one who inspired this site! I am getting married in 5 days and just love this site! Thanks again!

I've read so many of Karen Kingsbury books, and this is one of my favorites.  Karen makes the story and the characters seem so real, like they are real people!  This book touched my heart in so many ways.  If Emma, Brad and Laura were real people, I would like to meet them.

This is a fabulous read! This is the very first Karen Kingsbury novel I've read, and she is definitely my favorite Christian fiction author now! I love how well written this novel is, and how she puts God at the center of the story! Other Christian fiction novels I've read only mention God in passing, but Karen wrote this in such a way that I felt like I was learning God's word and how to live it all at once! I've never had any dealings with abortion, but Karen makes you feel the character's emotions as if you are experiencing the situation first hand! I loved this book and will definitely read other books by Karen. I also liked how she wrote this book after hearing, Tim McGraw's, "Red Rag Top" song. Several times in this book, I was reminded of this song. It was pretty cool to read Karen's note, in the back of the book, and that my hunches were right on the money! This book won't disappoint!

I just finished listening to this book and was once again pleased with the depth and emotion that Karen's books always bring. I cried with Emma and Brad over the innocent love that was shared, and lost, due to one life-changing choice.  I can relate to the characters since I too was faced with the very real question of life vs. an unwanted pregnacy.  I chose life but not without it's struggles. However, I often wonder how I would have felt, if I hadn't chosen life. This book clarifies, for me, just how one must feel. My heart goes out to every mother that has been faced with this choice, and I pray that they will find healing as Brad and Emma did.  One thing that does stick out in this book, that should touch us all, is that -- Everyone Has A Past, and God forgives us ALL!  God Bless...

I I like this book a lot. The only thing was it got rather long. The story line was very compelling. I, to, have several friends who had abortions. Our friendship was never the same. I had to let them know how I felt although it wasn't a big surprise to them. Each one went ahead and had the abortion wich I am very sorry about. Being unwed and pregnant with an unwanted pregnancy is a very scarey thing I will admit, but one mistake isn't ever going to be fix with another mistake. Our country has never been the same since the government leagalized abortion. I know the argument for safe abortions and a woman's right to choose but what about the child's right and the man's right? This is really a complicated subject that has only been made worse by legalizing it. PTL that you are not afraid to write on "hot" topics!!

Your book, Shades of Blue has helped me in so many ways. My husband and I made a decision to have an abortion with our second child when I was 20 years old. After the abortion, 30 years ago, my husband and I never talked about it. The reasons behind my lifelong depression is much clearer now. It's also clear to me that we need to talk before we can forgive ourselves and receive God's forgiveness. Addionally, when our daughter (our first child) was 20 years old, she was also contemplating an abortion-she told me that she was ashamed and didn't want anyone to know about it. I am so grateful that she confided in me. I told her if anyone had a problem with her pregnancy to tell them to come and talk to me. I explained that abortion seems like an easy way out but we never hear about the lifelong torment of our decision. The next day she went to the pregnancy crisis center, learned facts about abortion and my prayers were answered; she made a decision to put the baby up for adoption. A pastor and his wife's prayers were answered after praying for 14 years for the adoption of a baby girl. My daughter was only six years old when they started praying and the Lord knew that she would be an instrument in answering their prayer. It was a blessing for all of us. Thank you Karen for writing this book, I'm grateful for your courage. I felt like Shades of Blue was personally written for me.

I loved reading Shades of Blue, I have never had to consider abortion, but I have experienced having to walk with a friend into a clinic & leave her there. I only ask God to forgive my reckless actions. If only I had been stronger. Thanks Karen for your wisdom & strong faith.
