This is my first Karen Kingsbury novel and it has been a wonderful experience.  We also have a "Josh" whose life was sad because of a severe mental disease (Bi-Polar Manic Depressive) who died 3 years ago.  She left a beautiful daughter, whom we had not been allowed to know because of her mother's disease.  Today she is very much a part of our lives and is planning to move to our home and go to college in a couple of years.  We still know very little about their lives for several years, but do know our daughter knew and loved the Lord before her illness robbed her of a normal life.  God sustains us with the hope that we will someday see her, whole and happy, in her Saviour's Presence.  Thanks, Karen.

This is the first Karen Kingsbury book I have read...I'm so glad I picked this to read first. What an inspiring Christian story of life, love, and family and what peace we have knowing that we who are "This Side Of Heaven"  will one day see our loved ones on that side of Heaven.

I have just finished reading this inspirational story. I laughed and cried with all the characters. This is the first time I have read any of your books and will def be looking out for more. Thank you for such an inspirational story of love, loss and family.

Very good book! In response to Jessica's earlier review - This side of heaven IS linked to the Cody Gunner books. It could be read without having read either of the CG books but the impact is greater if you have read beyond the clouds and understand Carl Joseph and Daisy's story. Although this book is not about Cody or any of his family. Carl Joseph, Daisy and Cody all play their part in Josh's story.

I am on the waiting list for this book at my local library, and as with all your other books, I am sure to love it.  My comment is that this book is very often attributed to the Cody Gunner series, which is unfortunate because I see no relation based on the synopsis. I just wanted to mention it for any others that have had this unfortunate experience and gone hunting for a third book in the CG series.

I stayed up until almost  5 am reading this book and at some points it made me cry.

When I was done reading this book, I read the Author's Note (which I usually skip in most books). In a way, this book made me remember my grandfather. I loved my grandfather, I remember him waving goodbye to me from the car. I never knew that would be the last goodbye I'd get on 'this side of heaven.' I still love him.

In, This Side of Heaven, God let them know that he forgives and he gave them hope.

Karen, thank you for writing this book, it meant (and means) a lot to me.

Karen, this book touched me. I couldn't put it down!  I received a, bible promises book, from one of my great grandfathers, before he died, and it is very special to me. It also means a lot to me that you write your books from a Christian's perspective. Please keep writing!!

This Side of Heaven is such an awesome book. I just finished, but wanted to know more about what happened to Savannah.

We lost our son Jason some years ago, and this story paralelled our feelings, thoughts, hopelessness, and the greatness of God. It was the days and months following his death that we learned how many lives he had touched. Still, 6 years later, we are still learning. I know that this may seem odd, but my faith has grown by mountains since then. What we have learned and loved has been a blessing...Thank you Karen, for such faith filled books that I feel we can all relate to. -Thanks!

I did not see that ending coming, but was so glad for it. This was a great book, just like all of Karen's books that I have read. Thanks, to my friend Kim, for getting me started on Karen's books.

I just finished this on audio and what a story... It's always sad when someone has to die but, in this case, it was wonderful what became of his death and the really happy ending. I can't believe I hadn't listened to this book before. I'm so glad I did, I couldn't stop listening to it once I got started. Thanks again for a wonderful story... God really worked in this one as always.
