Fallen Soldiers and Heroes
PFC Phillip J Pannier
Other
PFC Phillip Joseph Pannier
December 5, 1987 - January 8, 2008
This is my fallen soldier. I was there to see him Baptized and later confirmed into St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Benson, Illinois. Phillip grew up active in all of the young people's programs of the church.
Phillip was born December 5th, 1987 to Donald and Robyn Pannier in Peoria, Illinois. His parents lived on a farm near Washburn, Illinois and Phillip grew up very active in farming. He always loved being outdoors and was an avid deer hunter, always looking forward to Deer Season. One Easter he and his father brought a live lamb into the Church to emphasize Christ speaking of his lambs.
Phillip graduated in 2006 from Roanoke-Benson High School where he was active in band, FFA, football and soccer. He was also in 4-H Club and was a member of the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club.
He began his military career with basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He achieved his rank of PFC serving his home post at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. After achieving his rank of PFC, he was deployed to Iraq where he faithfully served his country. He was killed January 8th, 2008 while patrolling supposedly uninhabited buildings somewhere in Iraq. Apparently one building was not uninhabited. He is still sorely missed by his family and all who knew him!
