Active Soldiers and Heroes

My son, my hero. I never fully recognized the sacrifice these men and women in uniform make - until it was my own son who was asked to go to a faraway country and protect their people. When he left for Iraq in 2009, I gave him a keychain that said, "Fear not, for I am with you always".....he kept it with him then - and he still carries it with him now.

Our family is so very fortunate that our 'hero' returned unharmed -- however, my heart will always hold a very special place in it for all those brave men and women who have gone home to Jesus too soon. God must have a very special place in heaven for those who have given up themselves so freely. This picture is of my "little boy" and his "best girl"......how blessed I have been to be his Mom!
