Pray that God will be with him and help him realize that his actions are in defense of his country and our freedom. Chris misses his brother, and he worries about life back home. Shaun Harrison Reass
Captain
Serving His Country
United States Army
My name is Brooke and I am very proud army girlfriend. I just finished reading Ever After, and pretty much cried through the majority of the book. Emily and Justin's relationship reminded me so much of my boyfriend and I before he deployed for Iraq. Some of Justin's letters sounded almost word for word like the emails I have received from Shaun. My boyfriend, Captain Shaun Harrison Reass has just returned safely from a 15-month deployment in Iraq. The past year without him has been very difficult, but I am so proud of him and all of our soldiers fighting for freedom in Iraq. Shaun loves his job as an Infantry Platoon Leader (Stryker Brigade) out of Fort Lewis, Washington and is the most dedicated and hard working man I have ever met. Shaun is scheduled to spend the next year safe on US soil, training all over the country, but will likely return to Iraq for a second tour after his training. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, he truly is an amazing man and I feel blessed everyday that God brought him into my life. Attached is a picture of Shaun and I at Fort Lewis on the day he returned from Iraq, I will never forget what it felt like and how my heart soared when I saw him proudly march into the room with his platoon after spending 15 months away from home.
Brady Reed

Serving in Iraq
My son, Brady, is a private in the U. S. Marine Corp. He is currently serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Western Iraq. He was deployed March 2008 & will return, (Praise be to God), in October 2008. Please pray that he will feel God's presence and closeness in all that he does, that he will become closer to God, and that he will be safe and return home to live the life that God would have him live. Brady is the second from the right on the bottom row, but I wanted you to have a picture of the entire Weapons Platoon Delta Company LAR Bn. -Thank you, Jackie Reed
Joshua Ayers

Please pray for my son and his wife, Heather. He is nine months into his fifteen-month tour and is not himself. This picture is of Joshua and his new bride (right), and his younger sister (left). May was Joshua and Heather's first anniversary and they celebrated it apart. He is scheduled for his leave in the next few weeks and we are all up in the air about how things will transpire. He is not sleeping more than an hour a night, if at all, is not eating well and has a challenging schedule. Please pray for his mind and heart and that he will be able to relax and truly recuperate on his leave and for strength in their marriage.
Trey Lipinski

Serving His Country
This is my son Trey & his fiance Kristan. My son joined the army at 18 and now at 21 he has been to Afghanistan and Iraq. Trey has always wanted to be a soldier as long as I remember. He tells me he never regretted joining and has since re-enlisted. We are blessed that his base at Fort Hood is only a couple of hours from our home. Thank you for all your support of our soldiers! I wish there were more people like you! Pray that he stays safe.

James Gill

Currently Serving in Iraq
This is my nephew, James, who is serving overseas for the first time. Please pray for his safety and strength, and that he would draw closer to God while he is in dangerous territory. He assures us he is “out of harms way” but we know he is impacted by daily fire even if it isn’t ‘on top of him’. I am very proud of him, and all of our men who are making that sacrifice. As a former Army wife, I know the heartache and trial, but I also know that God is omnipresent and we can fully rely on Him! Thank you Karen for all you do, for bringing strength to homes and families through your inspired writing. -Kae Roberts

Monica has been proudly serving her country in the Air Force for the past 20 years. God has kept her safe on her various deployments and I pray He continues to do so. It is not easy for a mother to have her daughter far away, but I know she is
doing what she loves.
Justin
Currently Serving in Iraq
My son-in-law, Justin, is currently deployed in Iraq. My daughter and year old grandson moved back to our hometown during his deployment. Justin has wanted to be a Marine since he was a young boy. In the summer of 2006, after much prayer and discussion, he and my daughter decided that it was God's plan for him to enlist. Thank you, Karen, for your support of our military men, women and families. Please pray for God's presence to be manifested wherever our military personnel are, and may they sense His presence and follow His lead. I pray continually for their safety and Godly wisdom and discernment for every step and decision that they make.
Justin Barbery
SSgt
Currently Serving His Country
My name is Jessica Bulzone. I've recently read your book
Ever After for the second time and I needed to tell you how life-changing it was. I have a soldier of my own fighting for my freedom, SSgt Justin Barbery. Part of the reason your book was so entrancing was the fact that the character Justin Baker was so similar to my own soldier, not just the name but his characteristics show how God lead them to do what they know is right. He is an amazing brother, son, leader, friend and love and the only way he could be this way is if he was truly a man who walked by faith, and that might be what I love most about him. I read your book only a few months after I found out Justin was being sent home from injuries caused when an IED went off under his Humvee. It was very scary to think of the damage it could have done. When I read the ending I couldn't help myself from crying, knowing that I could loose him. I just found out yesterday that they are transferring him into the desert. I honestly don't know how I will get through missing him, I've been praying everyday hoping he will come home safely to me again, but even if he doesn't come back to me, I now have your book to learn from and if he hadn't come home from his first tour I would never have read your book and never known the life changing experience its given me. You are very blessed in your writing and your faith. Your in my prayers, Jessica Bulzone

My husband just got sent to Iraq not even 30 days after AIT. He will be coming back home July 2010. We have a little 1 year old boy. During this whole progress he has seen his son only a month out of the year. Ask for everyone to pray for him because he needs time to meet his son and get to know him and also my son needs to realize he does have a father that loves him. Pray that he comes home safe. His family needs him.

Please pray for Mark and the rest of our soldiers that they all come home soon. We as a family are very proud of what he and all the others do and stand for and that is our FREEDOM!! Currently Serving in the United States Army
My uncle James has always been like an older brother to me. He joined the US Army shortly after 9/11 and we (my family and I) couldn't be more proud. He is truly a hero in our eyes because he has served multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He will finally be coming home from his current deployment and he will be staying for good. God has truly been watching over him and his fellow soldiers and God will continue doing so until all soldiers come home. -With lots of love from a very proud niece and family, Ashley.
Joseph W. Lyles
Lance Corporal
United States Marines
Currently Serving in Afghanistan
This is my son, Joseph, who is on his first deployment to Afghanistan. He enrolled in the delayed entry program for the USMC in 2006, while he was still a senior in high school. If anyone would ask him why the Marines, he always told them “because God told me to”. Despite numerous attempts from well-meaning friends and acquaintances to convince him to choose a different branch of service, he stood his ground to follow his heart in doing God’s will for his life. I’m very proud of him for that. Please pray for safety for him and the entire 24th MEU as they are in Afghanistan for a 7 month deployment. A lot of people think that Afghanistan is “safe” but there are dangers there just like in Iraq. I realized that today when he called to tell us of one such danger. Please also pray that Joseph will be a shining light for Jesus among his fellow Marines as well as any local Afghans he may come in contact with. -Thank you, Dennis & Sharon Lyles, proud parents
Stephen Levi Combs
Our oldest son, Private First Class Stephen Levi Combs, joined the U.S. Army in January, 2008. He is currently at Basic/AIT training in Ft. Benning, GA. He will begin airborne training in May, then move on to Special Forces training after that. Please pray for his physical health, his safety, his spiritual health, his emotions, and the impact he and his relationship with Jesus will have on those around him. Stephen told me before he left that he has been thinking of this since 9/11/01, when he was a junior in high school. We are all so proud of him. His Dad and I have 5 other children (most are grown up). Pray for all of us as we support him in this mission. -Debbie Combs
Kolby Peterson

Currently Serving in Iraq
Please pray for my best friend and the love of my life, SPC Kolby Peterson. He is on his 2nd tour of Iraq as a part of 1/2 Co SCR 1st platoon. I just got a phone call that he has to fight in Sadr city so I will not be able to have contact with him. I am very scared because Sadr city has been in the news for setting the record for bloodiest attack since 2006. I cant believe he has to be in the heart of all that. Please pray that he will be ok and come home to all of his family and friends. We miss him every second of everyday. With everyones help, we together can bring our soldiers home. Thank you everyone. "These are my two brothers, Darren and David Maples. My brother Darren leaves this Sunday, Feb. 24th, 2008 for Iraq, and David will leave sometime this fall. My brother Darren is married with a little 2 year old boy DJ, and is expecting a second in July. He won't be able to be at the birth of his second baby, and although I know this happens all the time in military families, until you are in that situation, you don't really understand the sacrifice these families go through. Please pray for strength for my sister-in-law as she goes through these next 7 months. Also, I would ask prayer for my Mom and Dad. When I was 12, we lost my little brother Michael to bone cancer, Darren and David came after Michael died. As a mom now, I can't imagine the death of one of my children, and I can't imagine my parents going through it again with one of my Marine brothers. Please pray that our Heavenly Father would not only keep the boys safe, but that my parents would not live in fear while they are deployed, that they would feel the comfort of the Father everyday they are gone. Thank you for caring for our troops, and for making people aware of their sacrifices." In His Grip, Laura Thompson, Proud Sister of 2 Marines

My son Kevin was deployed in April 2006. Just days before his 20th birthday in July an IED blew up the Humvee he was driving. The injuries sustained by all 3 men in the Humvee were relatively minor. Please pray for his safety and success in Iraq and a healthy return to the US. This prayer goes out to all the troops - safety, success and healthy return. God bless the sacrifice of all our troops and their families on the homefront.

Please pray for my family as we continue to take this deployment one day at a time, facing many struggles. My children miss their father terribly and I miss my husband, my best-friend. Please pray for our nation as a whole. That in all our differences, we can come together to realize that whether we support the war or not, is not the point. We can support our troops... the men and women who are willing to lay their lives down so that we may live freely. God Bless all of our troops. May God bring you home safely!" -Jenna

Crickette deployed to Iraq the weekend after Thanksgiving & will be serving for about 15 months. Marissa who is now a little over a year old is staying with us. Crickette had asked us to be guardians for Marissa if there ever was a time she would deploy. What an honor this was for us & Joshua loves having his sister here with him. With that being said: We ask for prayers to give Crickette the guidance, strength & courage to get through her days in Iraq & bring her home safely. We are truly grateful to all who are serving our country & their families for the sacrifices they make. Thank you for your prayers." -Dan & Linda Schuhmacher

"This is my husband, Robert. He is on his second tour of duty in Iraq. He felt like God was calling him into the Army to do a work for Him. It was a big step for us because we had only done the National Guard thing, which is who my husband went to Iraq with the first time (our National Guard deserves attention also!) But with God's warm embrace and that peace that surpasses all understanding, we know everything will be alright. While reading the book EVER AFTER, I wasn't sure I could get through it or even if I should be reading it with my husband overseas but it is a wonderful book and describes my husband completely. He loves the Lord and sees the good we are doing over there. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is getting spread and people are getting saved. Our men and women in the military (families also) deserve so much because they are over there in harms way, for us. They deserve our prayers and whatever else we can give them. But above all, God deserves our praise and worship, because he is Almighty and He is the one that brings our troops home and directs their paths over there. Thanks being to Him for the greatest sacrifice ever. Jesus Christ!!!"

"Ben is currently serving in Iraq. He lost his best friend (and cousin) Jason Paton in a sniper attack in February '07 and, just two days later,
Ben was wounded (along with 16 others of his platoon) in an Al queda ambush. These 17 wounded men fought a 5 hour battle against 80 insurgents, after a massive truck bomb destroyed the Iraqi police outpost they were guarding in the town of Tarmiyah. Since then, his company has lost 10 more men in the near-constant combat they have seen for most of this 15 month deployment. Things have calmed down more recently in the region, as their so-costly efforts have begun to pay off. The troop surge is working! Thanks to God, who hears our prayers! And to the inspired efforts of General Pettreaus, and those serving in the northern Bagdad region. May God continue to inspire and to protect and to heal these brave men of Demon company. Ben recently received the Purple Heart Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal with "V" device for valor, for his actions in the Battle at Tarmiyah." Ben's proud and honored mom - Jenni Oakley

My husband, Larry, is funny, kind, loving, with strong moral integrity that makes me respect him beyond words. He wants more than anything to help the civilians realize that the stigma relayed to them about what it means to be "American" is wrong. We are not all without strength, faith, moral integrity, courage, empathy, and love.
Please pray for my husband's safety. And, please pray that he is able to stay that funny, kind. loving person through all he will endure and see. Please let him look toward Heaven anytime he feels burdened with a heavy heart and exhausted. Please let the faces of our four daughters come into his mind and make him smile. Let that give him strength to go on as well. And please pray that peace begins to work it's way into that fractured country so that all our men can come home. My oldest son, Brian, left for Iraq in February 2003. He was in Iraq only one month and was injured. "Here's a photo of my grandson, Andrew in the middle in Iraq. I send him money and he keeps his hair short in 115 degree weather. All the outfitting comes for protection he said. Andrew gave his heart to Jesus (again) before leaving in May 2007. I send Andrew plenty of good literature for himself and his buddies to keep close to the Lord. Andrew has a wife, Janel, and 4 1/2 year old son, Landon, at Moody AF base in Ga. This grandma and his parents sure love Andrew and pray much for his safety. He should be back in December and then his younger brother, Joseph, will leave for his third tour of duty in Iraq." -Diane L. Parker

Please pray that he simply stays happy and sane, keeps peace of mind, and comes home soon. Thank you." God bless, Rhandi Conley

Joshua Engel
LCPL
United States Marine Corps
Serving in Iraq
I wanted to say THANK YOU for this awesome book "Ever After" I love all your books but this one touches a special place in my heart. I have
always loved the United States and what we stand for and since 9-11 have supported our servicemen (most of whom I have never met personally) but have great respect for them as I have gotten to know them as they have served in Iraq.
This is my brother, LCPL Engel, Joshua, who is currently serving in Iraq for 2 more months before he will return stateside. He joined the US Marine Corps last year and volunteered to go to Iraq early so that those who have families would be able to return home to them. He knows he is where God wants him right now and we ask that as you pray for his safety and spiritual wellness that you would also THANK God for all the good things that He is doing over there as well as here. He is pictured with my mom the last time we saw him before he shipped out. God bless!
